Cúilíní are a husband and wife duo Eithne O’Mahony and Kevin McNally, well known around the west Cork music scene and further afield as members of the West Cork Ukulele Orchestra. They trade in close harmony, storytelling songs with the spectral timbres of electric guitar and metallophone. The subject matter varies widely harnessing the dark, but redemptive power of folk music. Owing an equal debt to Hank Williams, 80s power ballads, and the musical tradition of the Muskerry Gaeltacht, their style of country pop embraces new sounds while revelling in the richness of tradition. You might call it pop that takes itself too seriously, or folk that doesn’t take itself seriously enough.
Their debut EP Since I’ve Been A Stranger To You is available on bandcamp
